Kids’ melatonin-free herbal gummies are the best way to help your kiddos settle down at night, get a good night’s sleep, and not mess with their internal body workings.
Two of my kids have ADHD, and bedtime is usually the most challenging part of our day. Being able to settle down after a long day of school and playing and living life can be difficult. Especially in the colder months, we have here in the PNW, which is most of the year, honestly.
I fell into the melatonin trap after months of trying different routine changes, and nothing was working. Since melatonin naturally occurs in the body, it’s good for you, right?! (Spoiler Alert: It’s not)
Ever since getting into herbs and natural remedies, I try my best to do things as naturally as possible, but natural does not always mean good for you. A tip a lot of people need to learn.
Bedtime Routine Tips To Try
A whole set of things should take place around bedtime to ease the body into settle-down mode.
–No electronics one hour before bed OR use blue-light blocking glasses. I know how hard it is not to have electronics around bedtime. Can it be done, yes? But we are only human, and watching a show or reading an eBook is something we like to do. Instead of restricting our kids from that, we teach better habits.
–Comfy Pajamas, blankets, and stuffies. Getting prepared to sleep is a big part of a healthy sleep routine. Even as an adult, I get my special blanket ready and into my comfy sleeping clothes before I get into bed.
–Snacks. Hear me out. 😂 Snacks are such an essential part of sleep. Feeling full and being hydrated will make a huge difference in how well someone sleeps at night. In short, handing the kids some sugar-filled goodies will not have the effect you are hoping for. Check out my post on good, healthy snacks for bedtime!

Mix 1/3 cup dried herbs in a mason jar with hot water to the top. Leave some room. Leave it to sit. Overnight in the fridge is best, but if you’re in a pinch, 30 minutes work.

- 1/4 cup Honey (raw and local, if possible)
- 1/3 TSP Salt
- 1 cup Herbal Infusion
- 1/2 cup Gelatin
Directions
- In a saucepan, add 1 cup of herbal infusion and 1 cup of tart cherry juice.
- Slowly mix in 1/2 cup of gelatin and let it sit for 5 minutes until it “blooms.”
- Add 1/4 cup of raw, local honey and 1/8 TSP of salt.
- Pour into silicone molds and put in the fridge.
- Suitable for up to two weeks.
After they have hardened in the fridge, I pop them all out and add them to a mason jar for quick, easy access! They will last for up to 2 weeks in the fridge and taste delicious! Give them about 15-20 minutes of sleep time.
